The Most Holy

The names Of Allah
Sanctify Linguistically means purify and ‘Purification’ and ‘Sanctity’ are derived from the tow previous Verbs; and sanctuary means purity and from this definition Gardens has been named the shed of sanctuary. Means blessing and purity and to be sacred and to pure your soul if means you worship obey and glorify God.

In this connection Allah the Great and Almighty says: “Behold thy lord said to the angels ‘I will create a vicegerent on earth.’ They said would thou place therein who will make mischief therein and shed blood? Whilst we do celebrate thy praises and glorify thy holy {name}? He said: ‘I know what ye know not.’ ” [ALBAQARA-VERSE 30]
‘The Most Holy’ is one of God’s 99 attributes and it means purifier. But we say that the concept of Divine Purity is different from human purity, since human purity has more than one meaning. It means purity from dirtiness and causes of diseases and epidemics as in God’s saying: “And He caused rain to descend on you from heaven, to clean you therewith” [AL ANFAAL – VERSE 11]
And His saying: “And thy garments keep free from Satin! And all abomination shun” [AL MUDDATHIR – VERSES 4,5]
God, the Great and Almighty, said: “So keep away from women in their courses, and do not approach them until they are clean” [AL-BAQQARA – VERSE 222]
And some of it the purity from the heart and spiritual epidemic like hatred, stinginess, spite and envy. As in His saying: “Of their wealth take alms, that so thou mightest purity and sanctify them” [AL-TAWBA – VERSE 103]
And His saying: “For such – it is not Allah’s will to purify their hearts” [AL-MAAIDAH – VERSE 41]
And some of it to escape from any worship other than worship of The Right God, the Great and Almighty. And to escape from His sin. As He said on Lut’s people tongue: “They said, Drive out the follower of Lut from your city: these are indeed men who want to be clean and pure” [AL-NAMIL – VERSE 56]
And His saying: “I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee (of the falsehoods)” [AALI-IMRAAN – VERS 55]
And the human cleanness also is the clean from impurity as He said: “If ye are in a state of ceremonial impurity, bathe your whole body” [AL-MAAIDA – VERSE 6]
We have talked about human purity. But what about the concept of Divine Sanctity? Is it possible that it means purity from dirt, impurity or sin which are the canceling causes of human purity? Definitely, Divine Sanctity or purity couldn’t have this meaning, but it differs from having the meaning of human purity. In order to understand this difference we must realize that dirtiness (specially material ones) like urine, sweat or menstruation are related to human being’s material structure. And had it not been for body, there would not be any dirt. On the contrary, God, the Great and Almighty, is free form matter, that is to say, God’s structure is not composed of matter. And how could His structures be composed of matter created by Him? Being free from matter, it makes Him free from all aspects of dirtiness which afflicts human beings. If we shift to immaterial dirtiness, such as atheism, polytheism and sin, we find that Allah is for above it because He is not subject to any instruction. And now we ask ourselves this question: “What does Divine Sanctity means that Allah is free from every defect and demerit. But what are the defects and demerits that contradict divine perfection? We have said that absolute perfection of Allah, the Great and Almighty, requires perfection of his exalted attributes. And this means that all the attribute of ability and you will see that human ability is not absolute but relative. It is clear that man has not the ability to do all things, while God’s ability is absolute.
We’ve also said that God’s attributes are divided into two parts. Those which have their opposites are the attributes that have an affect on human beings. Accordingly, God, to whom belongs might and majesty, punishes whom He pleases, and He grants mercy to whom He pleases. But the other attributes of Allah, which have no opposites, are those of highly Divine Self. Therefore, “Everlasting” is one of God’s attributes but “the deceased” is not. God, the Great and Almighty, is incomparable; nothing can be compared with Him. We have to stress on this fact because through history there were beliefs that people felt sure God has given human being His shape when He created him. And we say this is absolutely not true because if it is said that the resemblance is in the material form, then we say to those people who believe in illusions that God is not matter. Therefore mind rejects, with what the Holy Quran states, the formal resemblance. And if it is said that the subject of resemblance is the attributes, we say the mind also rejects it. To explain that, we know that the attributes of God, the Great and Almighty are two parts: the special attributes which belong to Him are Creation from nothingness, Resurrection, Putting to death, Eternity and Self Existence.
As for the attributes that belong to both God and human being, we say to the supporters of resemblance that it is impossible to imagine the resemblance between God and human, because the sharing here is literal or figurative.
Let’s take the attribute of ability of human being. You will find that he has attained all the inventions by means of his physical and mental abilities. And if we ask ourselves, “Who has created man and his mental and physical ability?” The answer to this question is that God, to whom belongs mighty and majesty. He has created human being and granted him both physical and mental ability. Accordingly God, despite the hatred of disbelievers, is far above the counter part, equivalent, match and contrary. In that case, Be He raised far above. We are not saying anything about You, then we will occupied our seat of fire, and we are not describing You of anything except of what You did describe Yourself in Your Holy Quran or on the tongue of Your Prophet. You described Your self and You said -Your saying is the right-: “Allah is He, than Whom there is no other god; -the Sovereign, the Holy one, the Source of Peace and Perfection of Safety, the Exalted in Might, the Irresistible, the justly Proud glory to Allah! (High is He) above the partners they attribute to Him) (AL- HASHIR – VERSE 23)
