The Proud
The pride
means greatness or height and exaltendess, and if we discribe the man as proud, then it will be a dispraised attribute, but it is an attribute of an essential praise for the absolute divine completeness.
So, man who became proud, i.e, to be arrogant with others, and this is a pride without requirements or support, because people are equal like the comb’s teeth, whatever was their grades; because grades and degrees’ difference don’t change the man and don’t take him out of human being, and all of us in this attribute (description) are equal, and this difference doesn’t make one of us greater than others, because it is a difference which we didn’t make, but it refers to God’s –to whom belongs might and majesty- will and wisdom, that He mentioned in His saying: “Is it they who would portion out the Mercy of they Lord? It is we who portion out between them their livelihood in the life of this world; and we raise some of them above others in ranks, so that some may command work from others, but the Mercy of they Lord is better than the (wealth) which they amass” (AL-ZUKHRUF – VERSE 32)
The Holy
verse was frank, that God –to whom belongs might and majesty- has promoted some of us in degrees, then it is nothing that we did in this. And if some one said: “I got it because of my knowledge or a work that I have done” we will tell him that your knowledge and your work are also bestowal from God –to whom belongs might and majesty- and in this differential, God wants to make each one of us an exploited for the other. And no one of us must think that this differential is conflict with God’s fairness, and who will think so, we will tell him: “You did misunderstand the verse, because God –to whom belongs might & majesty- didn’t divide His people into two divisions: one is exploited and the other is exploit, but He made each one of us exploited & exploit at same time, so the plumber who is clean the water’s pipes and wcs is exploited for the doctor, engineer and others, and at the same time, doctor, engineer & others are exploited to serve the plumber, but what does the plumber do and facing of difficulties in his work now, doesn’t compare to what doctor and engineer had suffered and the efforts they did and diligence during their studying years and what did they got of knowledge which will able them to serve & help this plumber (worker). So, every body is exploited & exploit according to the meaning of the previous verse. Some reasons of preference is clear in God’s saying: “It is He who hath made you the inheritors of the earth: He hath raised you in ranks, some above others: that He may try you in the gifts He hath given you: for thy Lord is quick in punishment: yet He is indeed Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful” (Al- Anaam – verse 165)
And this
is another wisdom for degrees’ differential, which is the infliction, for example the rich man is inflicting of what he has got of richness, is he going to pay the alm tax and to give alms, or he is going to hoard the money? Poor man also is inflicting, that if he is going to stand of poorness, or he will quarrel & skid? And this matter is in all indignations and comforts.
So, if that differential between people is made by Allah’s will & wisdom, no hand (favor) for us in it, then no one of us must think that he is better & greater than his brother (other), and who will think so, then he is proud, and haughtiness here is a bad and dispraised attribute, bacause he tried to describe himself with thing that he is actually not. And whatever the man got of world’s enjoyments still he is a man and a servant of God, and his belongings will not change this describtion. God –to whom belongs might and majesty- clarified to us His attitude towards proud people and He clarified for us their punishment on The Judgment Day, when He said: “But those who are too arrogant to serve Me will surely enter Hell abased” (Ghaafir – verse 60)
And He said: “But those who reject Our signs and treat them with arrogance,- they are companions of the fire, to dwell therein (for ever)”
(Al-Aaraaf – verse 36)
And He said: “To those who reject Our signs and treat them with arrogance, no opening will there be of the gates of heaven, nor will they enter the Garden, until the camel can pass through the eye of the needle: such is our reward for thos in sin”
(Al-Aaraaf- verse 40)
God –to whom belongs might and majesty- praised those who don’t arrogant to worship in many Quranic verses as He said: “Only those believe in our signs, who when they are recited to them fall down in adoration, and celebrate the praised of their Lord, nor are they (ever) puffed up with pride”
(Al-Sajdha – verse 15)
But The Proud as a name of God’s
attributes and a description of him, it is one of requirements for the absolute God’s completeness, and this doesn’t mean that God –to whom belongs might and majesty- is arrogant with His people, as some people’s thought, but it means that God of Himself is glorious & condescend on His people on the basis of that He is The Creator who is described with absolute completeness attributes, and because of that they are the creatures from nonexistence and whom they are existing by Him –to whom belongs might & majesty- and they are not existent without Him.
And talking about this divine descriptions without understanding its meaning will trip in the gross mistake and plain aberration, and we heard about the said that an orientalist said: “While our magnanimous creed describes The Creator with absolute humbleness; Islam described Him with absolute pride”. And this saying indicates his –the orientalist- ignorance of the meaning of God’s attributes in Islam, that his connotation of pride and humility with regard to Allah –to whom belongs might & majesty- like his connotation of pride and humility between people, and there is a very big difference between this and that, the relationship between God –to wom belongs might & majesty- and us according (regarding) pride and humility is that The Right –God, be He blessed- is The Proud i.e the glorious of himself and the condescend of himself and we are the humbles towards Him, so if we want to be proud towards each other or towards Him –to whom belongs might & majesty- then we get out of humility’s requirements which is an adjoining description with us (close to us) and that is legitimately prohibited, and He (God) said in the Holy Hadeeth: “Grandness is my wrapper and pride is my apparel and who will quarrel with me for those two, I will throw him in the fire (hell)”
While humility for God’s right –to whom belongs might & majesty- is getting out of the necessary of self grandness and self height and it is not allowed affectation for God –be He blessed- and if X said that he is behaving with people humbly , then actually he is proud, because he feels he himself that he is better and greater than them, but he is dealing with them humility, and if it is allowed to descripe a man that he is humble, but it is not allowed to descripe God with this, because humility in language means lowness and lowliness, and it is suitable description for creatures and not for The Creator –to whom belongs might & majesty- who is descriped with absolute completeness descriptions.
And God’s pride is an infalibility from obeying (following) some body, that how come that The Right –to whom belongs might & majesty- is obeying (following) others commands and He is The Proud and condescent of creature descriptions and no proud is above Him.
So, glory to God who is proud of His divinity, who is proud towards those who are tyrants from His creatures, that creatures are submited to Him and He is not submited to any, and pride is not suitable to creatures, but their attributes must be servility and reverence.
Glory to God, who makes humility and description of his creatures and pride one of His completeness descriptions, close to Himself, old as He is, and He said about Himself – His saying is the right- : “Allah is He, than whom there is no other god; the soveroign, the Holy One, the source of peace, (and perfection), the Guardian of Faith, the Preserver of Safety, the Exalted in Might, the Irresistible, the justly Proud glory to Allah! (High is He0 above the partners they attribute to Him” (Al-Hashr- verse 23)
And He said: “And unto Him (alone) belongeth earth: and He is Exalted in Power, full of wisdom!”
(Al-Jathiya – verse 37)
